St. Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc was born in 1412 in France. As a child, Joan heard the voices of Saints Michael, Catherine, and Margaret. They told her to assist the King of France in his war with England when she was 17 years old. Joan managed several victories with her small army, but was ultimately captured and put on trial. She was accused of being a sorceress and a heretic before being burned at the stake May 30, 1431. She is the patron saint of soldiers and France. Her feast day is celebrated May 30.

Reflection: Pray to the saint you feel most connected to – or say a prayer of thanksgiving for the women who have helped to form and nurture your spiritual life.
