Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • This is the last Sunday of Advent.Today’s reading from the Prophet Isaiah tells of the sign the people should expect at the coming of the Messiah. People waited and hoped and prayed and longed and looked for his coming for ages. How are we called to model ourselves after their pattern of hopeful vigilance this final few days of Advent?
  • The psalmist proclaims that the Lord is the king of glory. The little baby born in a stable is the king of glory. What does God’s entrance into the world as a poor child tell us about who God is? How does it enhance our understanding of God’s kingship and God’s glory?
  • Joseph is often portrayed as an ancillary character in the Nativity story. But, as today’s Gospel reading highlights, this is hardly the case. How is Joseph an example of faithfulness?  How can we imitate the loyal husband of Mary and the loving protector of Jesus during the upcoming Christmas season?
