The Good Shepherd

Readings for Sunday, April 22 — Fourth Sunday of Easter

Acts 4:8-12; Psalm 118: 1, 8-9, 21-23, 26, 28, 29; 1 John 3:1-2; John 10:11-18

Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • In the first reading, think about the phrase “The stone rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.” What meaning does this phrase have for you at this point in your life? Is there a time when you rejected Jesus or made Him your cornerstone?
  • The second reading says, “The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” When have you experienced being out of step with the world because of your faith or values? How did you feel supported by God in that situation?
  • In the Gospel, Jesus says, “I know mine and mine know me.” Do you feel like you know God? Do you feel like God knows you? How might you get to know each other better?
  • How have you experienced God being like a good shepherd in your life? What does it mean to you for God to be the good shepherd?
