Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • The psalmist sings of God, “Through the night watches, I will meditate upon you.” Recall a moment in your life in which you were so excited you could not rest; perhaps before a celebration or an important life event. Knowing that God is the author of all good things, how can we direct that same joy toward him? How can we invite him into our everyday happinesses?
  • Jesus tells the parable of the foolish and the wise virgins waiting for the bridegroom. How can we watch for God in our day-to-day? What is your “stock of oil” to keep your heart aflame in God’s love? To remain attentive to his voice?
  • In the second reading, St. Paul writes to the Thessalonians that they should hope and trust that Christ’s Resurrection will raise everyone who puts their faith in Jesus, even those who have “fallen asleep.” What does the Resurrection bring to bear on rebirth in your own life? Where have you “fallen asleep?” Where in your life do you need to ask the Lord to resurrect you?
