MLB Postseason

This year’s Major League Baseball postseason is shaping up to be a time when long-awaited dreams come true. In the National League, the New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs will face-off in the championship series for a spot in the World Series. The Mets haven’t won a World Series since 1986, the Cubs since 1908! For some fans, their team making it this far in the play-offs, or into the play-offs at all, is cause for celebration. Some would have considered these teams a long-shot just a few years ago. Talk with young adults about times when they’ve overcome long odds and what kept them going:

  • Are you following the baseball postseason? Who are you pulling for?
  • Can you relate to the Mets and Cubs who have been waiting a long time to make it to an important goal? What goal were you or are you struggling toward?
  • What and who has helped you persevere? What role has your faith played in staying on course?
  • Have you ever faced a situation when the odds seemed stacked against you? Who were your champions?
