St. Barnabas

St. Barnabas was born a Jew in Cyprus, and he did not receive the name Barnabas until his conversion, when he sold his property and gave his earnings to the Apostles. Following this, he lived in Jerusalem with other early converts and later traveled with St. Paul as a missionary to Antioch, Cyprus, and more. Barnabas is the patron saint of Cyprus, Antioch, against hailstorms, and is often invoked as a peacemaker. His feast day is June 11.

Questions for Reflection:

  • How can you spread peace in your life as Barnabas spread peace and Christ’s word in his?
  • What can you do to make your community (and others around you) more loving, accepting, and peaceful?
