Suggested Reflection Questions

  • Abraham and Sarah show hospitality to three weary desert travelers by setting in front of them the best they have to offer. These travelers happen to be messengers of God. Inspired by Abraham and Sarah’s example, how can we better welcome and honor the weary among us?
  • In order to live in the presence of the Lord, we must do justice. This is the refrain of today’s psalm. How does living justly and dealing honorably with others prepare us to welcome God into our hearts?
  • Jesus is dining at the home of two sisters, Mary and Martha. While Mary listens intently, Martha is left to see to the details of providing hospitality. She feels resentful. How does Jesus’ response to Martha’s resentment speak to our own over-scheduled and over-committed lives?
