The Healing Touch of Jesus

Readings for Sunday, June 28 — 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Wis 1:13-15; 2:23-24; Psalm 30: 2-6, 11-13; 2 Cor 8: 7, 9, 13-15; Mk 5:21-43

Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • In the first reading, we hear a lot about how God feels about death and how death entered the world. What are your thoughts on this theology about death? Do you think these words or comforting or consoling? Troubling?

  • In the second reading, note the things that Paul mentions excelling in. Are you excelling in those things? How can we better excel in these ways, as Christians?

  • In the Gospel, we hear of two healings. How are they similar or different? Who had faith in these two stories? Why do you think Jesus felt the woman’s touch but no one else’s touch in the crowd?
