St. Leander of Seville

St. Leander of Seville was born in Cartagena, Spain. He was a monk and bishop in Seville, who converted the two sons of the invading Visigoth king. Because of this, he was exiled to Constantinople, where he befriended the future Pope Gregory the Great. Returning to Spain, where there was a new king, he began teaching Christianity, especially the Trinity, to the people. He ended up converting the Visigoths and was one of the composers of the Nicene Creed. He is considered a Doctor of the Church in Spain.

St. Leander, pray for us that we will always seek truth, and never shy away from defending it. In Christ’s Name, we pray. Amen.” — Prayer to St. Leander of Seville

  • Questions for Reflection
  • St. Leander of Seville taught Spaniards about the Church, even when this was not popular. How can you maintain enthusiasm for something you love and want to pass on to others, even in the face of adversity?
  • What are some effective ways you’ve found to share your faith with others?

Tip: This week, introduce a younger relative to something you love to do — you might find someone who shares your passion!
